25 on 25 Party 25 Hours In The Life of uxbridge Juried Art Show 25 Hour Masterpiece Studio Tour 2010 Motley Playreading Ken Whiteley Concert Lunch Hour Concerts Books & Authors Uxbridge Unplugged 25th Gala Childrens Cartoons Roxy Film Night Calendar of Events	The Challenge Local writers, poets, musicians and songwriters, dancers and choreographers and artists in other creative fields have a novel challenge: to create a masterpiece, from start to performance, in 25 hours. The “25-Hour Masterpiece” event is a feature of this year’s Celebration of the Arts, to help mark its 25th anniversary. Plans are well underway for this year’s Celebration events in the fall, which will include the Uxbridge Studio Tour, Books and Authors Night, Juried Art Show, Children’s Art Exhibit, Lunch Hour Concerts, Motley Theatre Play-reading, and a big-name concert. The “25-Hour Masterpiece” will showcase seven different performing art forms: a one-act play, short story, poem, dance, song, video and improv. Each performance will be the culmination of 25 hours of creative energy. At 6 PM Friday September 24 each creator will be given a specific instruction: it may be a phrase, item or theme. They will have 25 hours to create their masterpiece, built around the assigned theme. These masterpieces will be premiered as part of the Gala Event the following evening, Saturday September 25th, at the Uxbridge Music Hall. “These will be world premieres of new works,” said Rita Jackson, a member of the “25-Hour Masterpiece” committee. “We have so many talented people around Uxbridge that we’re sure we’re going to get a lot of creative energy. It’s amazing how a tight deadline stirs the creative juices.”	25 Hour Masterpiece During this year of the 25th Anniversary of the Uxbridge Celebration of the Arts in Uxbridge, the planning committee decided that we needed to do something exciting, new, passionate and to incorporate as many different performing arts as possible. We created the 25-Hour Masterpiece event. This program will be part of the Gala Night Event held at the Uxbridge Music Hall on September 25th starting at 7:30pm. The event will also include a visit from two of our own piano sensations - Tom Baker and Carol Gibson as well as a reflective time over the last 25 years of Uxbridge Celebration of the Arts. What is the 25-Hour Masterpiece? Over the last two months, the committee has reviewed, discussed and listened to over 15 submissions of performance artists wishing to participate in the event and are ready to create a performance piece in 25 hours. The artists will be contacted at 6pm on September 24th with a word, phrase, theme and prop that EVERYONE must use, and they must create a new piece to perform for the first time on the Gala night.
